Nothing says summer like a good espadrille. "The term espadrille is French and derives from the Catalan name for the shoes, espardenya, which derives from espart, the Catalan name for esparto, a tough, wiry Mediterranean grass used in making rope. Espadrilles have been made in Catalonia since the 14th century at least" (Wikipedia). In English? Espadrilles are the original classic shoe, and its a summer wardrobe must! While I love my canvas classic pairs from France ($8 Euro's a pop!), loving the modern twist with leather on this once considered peasant footwear! While $178 is a bit out of my budget for a summer staple, a girl can dream of chic footwear ! Get them at Les Nouvelles!
