Hi little Monki

When I was in Sweden, a couple years ago now, I stumbled into the darling store Monki. Been keeping in touch with their website since, but wish we had one in New York too!! Turns out they have a cute website ta' boot. A few examples of their honeyed array of clothes above.

One Word: Jane

Love me a little Jane. Love not so much how I practically ran her over with my gawking on Bowery St. 2 years ago., but it was an epic NYC sighting and worth all the inappropriate-you-shouldn't-stare-at-people-because-its-creepy-and-weird-especially-"famous"-people-walking-around-New-York. Whatever.

Color Blocks

Coming off such sunny dayzzz, this cold and grey Manhattan skyline has me craving colors. Loving everything about Cacharel's spring/summer 2011 collection.
I'm really digging the color blocking and mixing brights (hello I brought out the red jeans yesterday that are so 6 years ago) with neutrals right now. Sorry Alexandra...fade black to brights! Obsessed with the all nude outfit + sunnies. Must winterize my own version of this asap.

Its a Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood

Spent the day feeling like Mr. Rodgers starting out at the home spot Brown for an early breakfast with Alexandra and O. Took a little voyeristic adventure of the NY Art Book Fair @ PS1 - followed by wandering unchartered territory in a Queens graffiti wonderland. Nothing like a colorful fall Sunday.

Fold Chair

A little does of awesomeness for an amazing design. My special man spent the past year + encapsulated by grueling late nights and many weekends away on a rad project after bring approached by Specimen Edition to make life of a proto-type project he built while in school. The fruitful but labor intensive efforts have paid off. The Fold Chair is well and alive and living a happy and oh-so-french life in Paris. With a full page spread in Octobers issue of GQ France, I had to share the love. Now if only we could get our hands on one of these felt beauties for our little loft nest....

Unfired

Went to see artist Kristin Morgin speak the other day. She makes these fragile, unfired clay and glue sculptures. Love the visible frame/scaffolding and that she is pushing boundaries of traditional ceramics by using completely raw materials that actually turn out to have a winsome, vintage white color I want all my furniture to be lately. Her show opens tonight at Zack Feuer Gallery in NYC.

Angelica

I have Angelica on the brain. I was reminded of my love for Angelica by my dinner conversation with friends last night. I have a special place in my heart for Angelica. Truly. Maybe it has something to do with fact that I remember my mother fondly speaking of her when I was a child. Maybe it's because I was inspired and spooked by her as the Grand High Witch in Roald Dahls (and Tim Burton's produced!) The Witches in 1990 -which is seriously one.of.the.best films.and.books.ever. Regardless, Angelica's equally glamorous and humorous and exudes beauty like no other...and just gets better with age! Hello killer bone structure, tall, and dark features..the trifecta of perfection. I die for Angelica.

Shoe Du Jour

The name Rachel Comey is to New York City as what Yves Saint Laurent is to Paris. Wow, that's a bold statement...ok maybe on a bit less of a grandeur level, but Rachel Comey has a cult following in New York and particularly for her shoes. As a New Yorker, its practically a right of passage to own at least one pair of Rachel Comey's. (I scored a black pair of clog booties from a couple seasons ago on super sale that I love!). Each season, I am more and more in awe of her shoes..similar shapes reinvented in so many new ways that I cant keep up with which pair are my favorite of the moment. Alas, I landed on this pair for my Shoe Du Jour. As temperatures continue to drop, I'm going crazy for soft woolies and warm looking textures. I love the simplicity and comfort element of this boot paired with the coziest looking wool in neutral colors. I would die to wear these paired with gray tights and a chunky sweater dress. Oh the endless outfit possibilities of style, comfort, and warmth. Oh and you can find these over at Gargyle, an uber curated little shop nestled on the outskirts of the LES.

Hopping on the Lanvin for H&M train!

For the past couple of H&M collab's I have to admit - haven't warranted much to rattle my shopping attention. OK...Comme de Garcon was cool, and I scored a pair of wool pants on sale like 2 months after the launch. Honestly, the only other time I fell victim to such a designer collaboration of any kind was the San Francisco H&M store opening and first ever designer collaboration with Stella McCartney circa 2005 (yes Alexandra, our friend Sara and I were right there in the throws that early Saturday fall morning, fresh from a late night out and ready to wait in line for all the goods we could grab...OMG kinda embarrassing)!! In short, I am somewhat unwittingly admitting that I am FULLY hopping on the Lanvin for H&M train. Yes. I. Am. Not that I am willing to pay $200 for a dress, but I am all about those black sunnies and pointy toe pumps. Lets see what happens come November 20.

Black Black Black

Everyone knows that I love black. I actually swore a week ago that I would only buy black clothing from here on out (which will probs not last, but zomg the idea is amazing). Another black related thing I love is bands that have the word black in them. Black Mountain, Black Sabbath, Black Keys, etc. Well, this all being said, I cannot even try to explain how elated I am to go see THE BLACK ANGELS tomorrow Nov. 2nd, Carly in tow, at the Bowery Ballroom. Time to put on the black boots and black leather jacket, sit back and absorb the grungy, true rock & roll that is The Black Angels.
