New Veins

Perhaps old news, but since February Vena Cava has a new blog. Loved their old one, diggin' the new one too. They always have an eclectic mix an in the past have featured a video cassette post that I was really into. Nice homage to Elizabeth Taylor too (RIP). Check it...

Fashion Faux Pas

There is never too much cheetah animal print action to be had on your feet. I might have just found the most purrrrfect sneakers EVERRR after I did a pit stop over at Phillip Lim's Japan Relief Sample Sale yesterday...spotted (literally) sitting all by their furry lonesome I found myself a new pet for $50. I cant stop wearing them...and who said you cant wear animal print shoes with animal print socks?

Shoe Du Jour

Back to basics. I'm not really a stiletto kinda gal, but there's nothing more practical and elegant than a classic black pump to spruce up your look. I must have missed the boat on these Zara puppies because I'm seeing them everywhere - digitally speaking - but haven't seen them in the stores...?! Secretly I'm glad I haven't pawned off a couple pairs of my pointy toed shoes from agessss ago - because I'm definitely digging the pointy toe back in action nostalgia. The perfectly cut out side details, and sleek point sorta reminds of a modern twist on Eyes Wide Shut style but in a good way....ohhh golly I need these now!

Shoe Du Jour

The new nude. This might be the perfect year round bootie to lighten up, layer up and down, and most importantly accessorize your tan bare legs! A shoe that can be worn with any color combination, limitless textures, and frankly anything frilly, fancy, tough, or just plain minimal. Not too much heel, that you wont feel overdressed for day time frolicking the streets or park. The new nude is quite like the new black, but I'm loving the idea of an all neutral ensemble or the all (New Yorker) black out with just the right touch of neutral to offset that dark and stormy vibe! A neutral never goes out of style...so swap those dark stomppers for something lighter to bring you back to the season that means roof deck (or back yard) drinking, park picnics, and cruising with your bike gang!

Leigh

I'd like to think that I'm channeling Leigh Lezark (minus the Chanel she's wearing and the brooding model aesthetics)...cause I just impulsively chopped my hair a la Leigh in attempt to free myself of the last 3 years of long nappy memories, and from hiding behind fringe. Out with the old on with the new do. Major side sweep to blend my growing fringe,...but my goal is to actually wear it "short and big" yep...that's right. Ironically, I have never felt more grown up and fresh. I literally feel like a new me.

Shoe Du Jour

Ive been wanting some crested slipper shoes for some time to make my days a bit more regal. Ya know, those velvet slippers with crested monograms channeling Hugh Hefner circa the 80's that you're really supposed to wear with bermuda shorts and a whale belt and not a silk robe? Actually Ive been digging the cheetah printed canvas version that's quite collegiate meets Lower East Side drop out, but those cost $395..WTF?! Well...say hello to Charles Philip Shanghai who has created a classic cool version with "the ease of the Moroccan babush, the elegance of the English gentry slipper". For $98 a pop, I'm one smitten kitten. According to the girls at Honestly WTF...these are hitting Bloomies in the near future!

Magpie, please steal me these Lizzie Fortunate pieces...

The twins of Lizzie Fortunato are the nicest people on the Essex block, let alone the jewels they design. Been dying to pop into their space, but in the meantime stare at their crafty, edgy, chunkiness of accessories on the web.
