Remember a couple months ago I mentioned that H&M was doing a collaboration with their Swedish shoe friends Swedish Hasbeens? Well, the shoe collaboration officially hit select H&M stores on Wednesday. Naturally I "meandered" over to H&M on my way home Wed. night (I live in Soho - so passing H&M on my way home is inevitable!) to find a center table with more Swede'ness than I could handle amidst a crowded H&M. A 10 minute panic attack ensued while trying make a lightening speed decision - but - resulted in the black pair of ankle strap wedges and a purchase for Alexandra in the tan version. $69 a pair sure beats their $250-$395 price tag on their namesake clogs, and honestly...they LOOK well made. I cant wait for pedicured feet and warm weather to test these out!
Could this be true? Cheap Monday rolling out Acne'esq boots for spring? Need I say more?? Where can I find these??

Casual Friday couldn't have called for a better Shoe Du Jour date. After a long week of heel sporting (lets be honest...I wore ankle boots every day this week), nothing says casual Friday like kicking back in style with something pretty AND flat for your feet. A little party for your feet sans the effort of hitting the mean work streets in your trusted ankle or stiletto scrapers. These Ernesto Esposito ballet flats scream after-work-drinks-afficionadista-ready-to-hit-the-party-circuit-now! Too many word'isms in one sentence? Ok, in English. The perfectly flat, perfectly patterned, perfectly accessorized shoe with just the right amount of flair to fance up your Friday pants party from office to evening! A lady-like bow at your toes to wink at you when suddenly giving to those dancing queen antics, nobody puts pretty ballerina in the corner! So I guess the moral of the story is...say YES to flats on Fridays especially when your ballerinas are the ones seeking the attention because you never want to leave home Friday morning without a little flair of evening glam.

After waiting anxiously to get tickets for Bill Cunningham during its extended showing this week at Film Forum...Alexandra in tow....finally saw the film that made my heart melt for the 82 year old man in the infamous blue smock cruising the streets of NYC on one of his 29 Schwinn bicycles and trusy Nikon (film, not digital) camera. I dont know how to express the overwhelming feelings of emotion, inspiration, respect, awe, and curiosity this documentary evoked. Yes, I am categorically and utterly amused by "street style" photography and fashion blogs of the like. Yes, I admire Bill's point of view (and let me tell you he has quite a point of view). But there is so much more about this film that resonated with me...it reinforced the reason why I am in completely and absolute in love with New York City. I have always had this affection with New York...something about this city screams history, mysteries, discoveries, and hardships that I have not found or felt in any other place known to me. New York has an artistic, renaissance essence that I really dont know how to describe. Yet, getting lost amongst the grit of the ever and over ambitious, fashionable, successful, eclectic, melting pot that is Manhattan - emerges a man with such a stone wall thick work ethic, point of view, and above all one of the most devastatingly modest critical figures in art, fashion, photography. My favorite Bill antics include calling everyone "kids" and refusing to drink even a glass of water at any gala because he is there to work, only. One of the most inspiring and moving documentaries I have seen. Yes Im getting all cheeseball..but I cant help it.
