Alexandra and I love a good wedge and I'm not talking about the cork cha cha cha kind ladies. I don't know what it is with girls and wedges - but somehow this equates to a happy foot marriage of style and comfort especially when it comes to booties. In constant search of the ever perfect boot (black of course) because you can never have enough pairs of good 'ol black boots...these Madewell beauties are killing it. If money grew on trees I might indulge in a little pet pony but for now Ive got my eyes set on the leather version. The perfect combination of structure, detail, and simplicity all in one. Voila!

Clarissa Explains it All
Believe it or not, but I was majorly and forever influenced by fashion from Nickelodeons 90's series "Clarissa Explains it All" (I mean..who didnt love and adore??). Embarking on preadolescence, I admit I was totally jealous of her "friend" Sam who always paid visits via the ladder to her second story window, and the fact that she had her OWN phone which she totally bedazzled with all these cool things (dont worry, that inspired a whole series of "hobbies" including deconstructing and redecorating my own gadgets and thrown out plastic phones...um can we say NERD alert). But what sticks out in my mind the most is that she was truly an individual in her own right. Her crazy outfit combinations matched her wild room and I wanted it all. To me she epitomized my ideal "cool" girl with no limits in wacky fashion combinations and the most awesome bedroom ever to match her spunk. While I'm not saying that she is my style icon nor fashion influencer today...she forever reminds me of the time when I first "discovered" fashion and why it should be fun. Ahhh...nothing like a little 90's nostalgia.
Creatures of Comfort Sample Sale!!!
It just doesnt get any better than this. My constant perusing of Creatures and Comfort online lusting because the beautiful shop lived in LA, recently turned into an AMAZING store opening located two blocks from my apartment in Nolita! Then I open my email this morning with the news that CoC has partnered with Assembly for a sample sale now through Saturday in the LES!! Talk about xixixixixxixi (that's "anxiety" for those of you not familiar with Alexandra and Carly terms). Im dreaming of Acne, Repetto, LD Tuttle, Karen Walker, the list goes on. Hopefully I can get my hands on something good...

All about Bill
Every Saturday, honestly even before I even get out of bed, I grab my laptop and watch On The Street With Bill Cunningham. He is the OG fashion photojournalist, the man is 81 years old, and I really wish he were my grandpa!!
Watch this weeks video on capes here. There is also a documentary made on him. Haven't see it yet, but can't wait.

Shoe Du Jour
I know its not Friday, but I've got Friday on the brain because I will be on plane EARLY tomorrow morning for a weekend trip back home to San Francisco! With fall weather still in transitional mode, I thought it most appropriate to feature this leopard pony ballerina flat from the Mohawk General Store (Um...a GREAT SHOP by the way). Not only is this shoe du jour a (way) more affordable version of the Repetto's I love, but this pair has the shape and classic ballet feel that doesnt deem it "cheap" looking like so many others I've seen out there. For $155, Id say these little ballerinas are worth the money knowing Ill get my use outa this shoe for seasons and outfit changes to come. P.S. I have a penchant for "wild" looking shoes in simple silhouettes these days so expect more animal prints and patterns!

AESA Jewelry
From the moment I moved to New York 2 1/2 year ago, It was hard not to take notice of Randi Mates insane jewelry Line Aesa - in the likes of all hip Williamsburg boutiques to uber curated little shops covering lower Manhattan. I love her jewelry because her shapes are seemingly so organic and pure. I prefer jewelry in all shapes and forms that are unexpected and have a nostalgic essence of them (ahem flea markets, vintage shops, my Mothers jewelry box). Makes sense, Randi Mates aka Brooklynite historian extraordinaire with a masters in Material Culture garnered her inspiration and much of her research based on ancient Greece and Rome. Im seriously in love with her jewelry and she continues to serve as major inspiration for my remedial jewelry crafting...

Donna Huanca
I met artist Donna Huanca and her colorful art when I was working at Headlands Center for the Arts in 2008. I knew she fancied cool fabric, found stuff, and all things vibrant, but just checked her website out after sometime and am VERY HAPPY to see that her kooky, crazy fashion pieces have beautifully evolved and even been featured in British Vogue! A nice example of contemporary art/fashion cross over.

Shoe Du Jour
One word: NEEEEEEED. I think I speak for Alexandra and myself when I say these are not just a Shoe Du Jour. These Acne boots are a warbrobe staple straight from the land of our aethestic obsession. These boots epitomize the ABSOLUTE running around Manhattan by day (or Sweden or where ever) or stomping around dive bars and basement clubs by night boots...AND lets not forget will most definitely provide a happy ever after lifetime of enjoyment. If I do say so myself, they are quite simply: PERFECT.

Les Nouvelles
Today I got Les Nouvelles new email and saw this "Be Your Own Stylist Tool" on their site. As someone who works in e-commerce retail, these "build your own" online tools are all the rage these days in an effort to create buzz and engage online shoppers in a fun way (Ok, enough about work). So, I decided to give it a whirl since Les Nouvelles is a very cute shop - at which I happened across when I was able to score last years Rag and Bone Combat boots at 30% off when they were not on sale anywhere else ! I only wish they carried more shoes online. Alas...I put together my perfect casual/everyday outfit.

Obsessed
OK OK, I know I am not new in my latest obsession with style setter Julia Sarr-Jamois...she has certainly shown up more recently on the blog circuit and I only just "discovered" her presence in the last couple of months. She is a stylist and also editor at Wonderland mag. I am utterly obsessed with her simple beauty and totally fresh take on classic colors and textures. I am never tired of grays in all forms of wardrobe staples and shoes. It just doesnt get any better. Dying for her hot pink sweater paired with gray and her SILVER lace up booties (does anyone know who makes these?) and ripped jeans. Not to mention her hair = awesomeness.

Cafe Mode
I love every single of these photos for their colors and details. The glasses, Hanneli's nails and hood, yes please to the neutral blazer and masculine inspiration, cheetah and sparkles, ohhh and the hair! I may not be able to read her posts...but no need when her photos do the talking.

Shoe Du Jour
I am not a fan of Tory Burch, but I am tots lusting after these leopard booties - which can be found here + get 20% off with Shop Bop's friends and family code INTHEFAMILY20 (ends 10/11)!! As a shoe addict (of which is worth mentioning that apparently it's so severe my boyfriend is convinced I am the only girl on the planet with a serious addiction/obsession with shoes), I am blinded by the namesake designer as my shoe addiction continues in the silhouette I know and love best: lace ups booties combined with animal print details. Whats not to heart?
